Nurse Holly
Member since 2006

Birthday: April 30

When starting as a volunteer with the Philadelphia AIDS Task Force in 1988 (while still straight – but we won’t go there), the future Nurse Holly was determined to make a difference. Promoting AIDS Awareness to inner city church groups and leather clubs tapped into something Nurse Holly knew all along - She loved an audience. After moving to Atlanta in 1989 to work at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Nurse Holly volunteered at AID Atlanta teaching Home Health Care. It was during one of her training sessions that the real Nurse Holly appeared. Her turn-about performance for an AID Atlanta party won her rave reviews and an invitation to join the Armorettes. Her interpretation of “When Will I See You Again” is still a crowd favorite (at least she thinks so). Along with AID Atlanta and The Armorettes, Holly has volunteered with P.S. We Care, served meals at The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, and assisted with showings of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. In addition to her Armory Homecoming Queen and Miss Pool Slut titles, Holly has been awarded the South Eastern Connecticut AIDS Project Volunteer Award, the Centers for Disease Control Volunteer of the Year Award, and the United States Public Health Service Volunteer of the Year Award. Nurse Holly’s daytime persona has worked in clinical research for 20 years. The CDC, the World Health Organization (WHO), Pfizer, and UCB are some of the places she has worked. Additionally, she has lived and worked in Kenya and India. Be sure to ask her about some of the interesting things she ate! Nurse Holly has been with the Armorettes on and off since 1990. She is proud to have known and performed with some of the original cast members. Though her drag mentors, Marcella Faye and Misty Waters have since passed away, they are a continued source of inspiration for her.
